I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA and moved to the area for my first full time teaching role at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Germantown, MD. Lastly, prior to Winston Churchill High School I served as an assistant principal of Sligo Middle School for three years and the acting principal during the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, I was the resource teacher for science and technology at Rockville High School. I was a Consulting Teacher with the Office of Human Resources and Development where I directly supported teachers in the continuous improvement of their craft. During my tenure, I have taught middle school science, high school biology, forensic science, and AP biology. This is my 19 th year in education and 18 th in Montgomery County Public Schools. There is no active threat to the school and officials said they believe this was an isolated incident, though the investigation will continue.īloomer is urging parents to speak with their children about bringing prohibited items to school, including weapons or other items that could invoke fear. According to Bloomer, the student will face “serious school consequences” and criminal charges. The student told police he “had no ill intentions” with the weapon and was holding it for someone else. His name has not been released and authorities haven’t specified what type of weapon he had. Police were soon able to track down the student with the weapon and place him under arrest. In a letter sent out to parents by Principal Todd Bloomer, he said another student reported it to a teacher before school administration and the North East Police Department were notified.
